Panasonic Rice Cookers – Summary

by john on October 2, 2010

Recently, I making an effort to update and add in few Panasonic rice cooker reviews. Anyway, my favorite is still Zojirushi and Sanyo rice cookers but Panasonic rice cookers are very affordable rice cooker with its simplicity and ease of use. If you ever in tight budget, you might want to consider some of the very best Panasonic rice cooker that I have take the time to review at below:

Basic Rice Cooker:

Fuzzy Logic Rice Cooker:

The other rice cookers I have reviewed in my Best Rice Cooker blog are:

Panasonic has been doing well in the market alongside Zojirushi and Sanyo, but with a different approach to rice cookers. They like to keep it simple and no-frills, and charge you less for it. This Panasonic SR-MS182 Fuzzy-Logic 10-Cup Rice Cooker is one of their best advanced models.

Panasonic SR-MS182 Fuzzy-Logic 10-Cup Rice Cooker, White

The Good
1) This rice cooker has many modes: normal white rice, quick white rice, brown rice, sticky rice, rice porridge, steam, cake and slow cook. But if you’re the kind who cooks more variations, you’ll probably have to find the best match for your favorite type of rice.

2) The rice cooking is good, but add slightly more water than the suggested amount if you’re only cooking 2 cups, because somehow cooking less will make the rice drier, and this happens with many big size rice cookers.

3) The steam tray works well and is easy to clean. It automatically sets the time to 10 minutes when you press “steam” and you can adjust it to more or less time if you need. But for most veggies and fish, 10 minutes is perfect.

4) It’s nice to be able to ‘bake’ a cake in a rice cooker if you don’t have any other options, but the cake is more like a steamed cake instead of a bake one with golden crust. Tastes just as good though.

5) The Panasonic SR-MS182 Fuzzy-Logic 10-Cup Rice Cooker remembers your last setting for slow cook, cake and steam, nice for routined cooking.

The Bad
1) The quick mode isn’t very good. The rice comes out undercooked unless you let it sit for a while more in keep warm mode, which defeats the purpose of quick mode entirely.

2) The slow cooker only has no heat setting so it only cooks on high heat. You can still slow cook with this if you think the temperature is right for your recipe, but it provides no flexibility for recipes calling for low heat.

I think the Panasonic SR-MS182 Fuzzy-Logic 10-Cup Rice Cooker is a good rice cooker for a big family. Click the link to read more reviews for this rice cooker so you will know whether it’s right for you.

Maybe the Panasonic SR-NA18 10-Cup Rice Cooker or the Panasonic SR-TEL18 10-Cup Rice Cooker are better Panasonic rice cookers, but I’d highly recommend getting the best big rice cooker – Zojirushi NS-ZCC18 10-cup Neuro Fuzzy Rice Cooker which is only slightly higher priced.

Panasonic SR-TMB10 – Good Points

  1. Make tasty white rice and brown rice. Cook brown rice reasonable quickly and fluffier compare to on/off rice.
  2. Easy to clean. No mess on the kitchen top.
  3. Didn’t burn rice even though with low water sometime.
  4. Extra feature such as soup, porridge(white rice steamer) and slow cooker setting
  5. This rice cooker looks good on the kitchen top.

Bad

  1. The rice cooker time will only cook 13 hours in advance and will only keep rice warm for 12 hours. For me, this is good enough but some people might need 18 hours in advance.
  2. Very unreadable manual. Again, I don’t read manual, so this is not a problem for me. But if you are new to rice cooker, you might need to do a bit of trial and error

Lastly, this Panasonic SR-TMB10 5-1/2-Cup Rice Cooker is right you if you have to serve 2-3 family members. Personally, I love this rice cooker, one of the best rice cookers out there:)

I rather like this Panasonic SRG-10G rice cooker too, very simple and easy to use. Besides these, I have many other Panasonic Rice Cooker Reviews, and I’ve sorted out the Best Rice Cookers according to cup size here.

It comes with the advance Fuzzy Technology where it adjusts the power level based on how much rice is being cooked. This is enables the rice to be cooked much more precise and consistent, so that you rice comes out looking fluffy and delicious.

The Panasonic SR-NA18 10-Cup Rice Cooker comes with an 8 menu settings, which 6 of them are rice functions. You are able to cook regular rice, porridge, sushi rice, brown rice, quick rice and many more others.

The other function includes the steaming settings where you are able to steam food. The cooker is equipped with a deep steaming basket which is made out of plastic, so it does not scratch the pan. The basket sits on the top of the pan, so the food does not come in contact with the water. The basket is big and deep and as one user commented, it is big enough to fit a whole cauliflower.

The Panasonic SR-NA18 10-Cup Rice Cooker also is fitted with a function which enables you to bake. Follow the manual on the measurement and you are on the way to becoming a great cook, by using just one electric equipment.

Panasonic SRG10G 5-Cup Automatic Rice Cooker Review

As most of the cookers in the market this Panasonic Cooker comes with an automatic shut-off mode when the rice is cooked. Of course this eliminates the hazard of burning the rice. If you want hot steamed rice, not to worry, as the cooker will switch to its “keep warm” mode once the rice is cooked.

This mode maintains an ideal serving temperature up to over 4 hours without even over cooking. The Panasonic Automatic Cooker will keep the rice nice and moist without over drying.

With the glass lid, you will be able to check the cooking progress form time to time. This also reduces the possibility of releasing the steam and heat while the rice is being cooked.

Another good feature this Panasonic SRG10G rice cooker is its non-stick capabilities. The rice does not stick to the pan, hence it make it easier for cleaning afterward. This is one feature that all of us, who happens to have rice everyday, would be grateful for. When the rice is stuck to the bottom of the pan, it is just a waste and no one would like to eat rice at the bottom of the cooker, which more often than not is hard and sometimes burnt.

As some of the reviewers said, if you have problem of the rice sticking at the bottom of the pot all you have to do is , let the rice stand in the pot for about 10 mins before scooping it out.

Anyways the Panasonic SRG10G 5-Cup Automatic rice cooker is one that is ideal for small to medium family who is looking for a non-stick everyday cooker.

No matter where you come from and the type of rice you eat, the Panasonic SR-NA10 5.5-Cup Rice Cooker is able to cook from regular rice, to brown rice, sushi and even porridge.

What is more evident with this smart cooker is that it comes equipped with a 24-hour clock and it is able to keep the rice warm up to about 12 hours.
