Sanyo ECJ E35S Rice Cooker Review

Cooking rice has never been easier now with the Sanyo ECJ series. The Sanyo ECJ E35S rice cooker is the model you need if you think Sanyo ECJ D55S is a bit too big for you. This little rice cooker plus steamer cooks up to 3.5 cups – just enough for 2-4 persons.

Sanyo ECJ-E35S rice cooker review

Sanyo ECJ-E35S rice cooker review

Sanyo ECJ E35S rice cooker comes with the thickest non-stick inner pot of all the ECJ series, as thick as 5 mm. The inner pot will not move around when you scoop the rice as it is heavier than the Zojirushi, one reviewer pointed out.

Being the advanced micro-computerized rice cooker it is, the Sanyo ECJ E35S cooks perfect rice every time. Go on and try it with all kinds of rice like sushi, basmati, jasmine, brown, brown sushi; and other stuff such as porridge, baby food, risotto, oatmeal, cut Scottish oatmeal, wheat berry pilaf, and barley soup.

Sanyo rice cookers are widely known for their ease of cleaning. Most reviewers expressed their delight in finding that cleaning the Sanyo ECJ E35S rice cooker is a breeze. The titanium non-stick coating will prevent stubborn stains.

One inconvenient thing about this rice cooker is that it doesn’t come with a place to put the rice paddle, but I’ve found that soaking the rice paddle in a mug of water beside the rice cooker is just as well and will make cleaning it easier too. The timer also shows 00:00 instead of noon, so you’d have to get used to it.

For a rice cooker with advanced logic controls and as many functions as the Zojirushi models, Sanyo ECJ E35S is more reasonably priced, so I would willingly put up with the minor inconveniences. What do you think?

Sanyo ECJ D55S 5.5 Cup Rice Cooker Review

Sanyo ECJ D55S – Best Value Rice Cooker

After looking at so many rice cookers, I’m sticking my head to pick this new model of Sanyo ECJ D55S as the best value rice cooker!

Sanyo ECJ D55S 5.5 Cup Rice Cooker Review

Sanyo ECJ D55S 5.5 Cup Rice Cooker Review

Sanyo ECJ-D55S rice-cooker review

Fuzzy Logic Feature With Affordable Price

This easy to use rice cooker uses fuzzy logic technology to cook perfect rice every time, whether it is brown rice (short grain, long grain, basmati, rose and black), white rice (long grain, Jasmine, basmati, arborio and sushi), or whole grains (millet and quinoa). Plus, you can even make puddings, pilaf, porridge, oatmeal and cornmeal in it. So versatile!

I personally like to steam vegetables, fish or egg puddings together with my rice to save cooking time. Sanyo ECJ-D55S doubles as a steamer that can also be used to heat up left over food from an earlier meal. I’ll share a tip here: To avoid getting your rice looking veggie-colored or tasting like fish, cover up the dish with a thin plate when steaming on top of rice.

Extremely Easy To Use

A reviewer said that the Sanyo ECJ D55S rice cooker does a nice job of slow cooking. Making stew and soup is no problem then. The timer is awesome because finally you can prepare dinner in the morning and breakfast at night. Come home to ready-cooked rice! Another 69-year-old reviewer was pleasantly surprised that such a piece of advance technology is so easy to use.

What’s more, the Sanyo ECJ D55S is the easiest to clean ever ( compare to the Sanyo N55W model ). The rice never sticks to the pot. Remember to use only the plastic spatula and never metal or harsh cleaning tools on the titanium non-stick coating.

A few glitches for your information: The timer shows noon as 00:00pm, but that’s not a difficult thing to get used to. The condensation on the lid will run down the lid into a gap around the rice cooker (instead of into the pot or onto the countertop), and you’ll have to clean this part each time. This may be a little inconvenient for some, but not a very big problem either.

Best Rice Cooker With Affordable Price

For the price you’re paying for Sanyo ECJ D55S rice cooker, which is quite a tad lower compared to models with the same features from other brands, I think its advantages will overweigh the disadvantages greatly. I would strongly recommend this rice cooker anytime!

Sanyo ECJ-D100S 10-Cup Rice Cooker Review

If you like Sanyo rice cooker ECJ-D55S but need to serve more then 5 people in the family, then Sanyo ECJ-D100S Rice Cooker is just perfect for you. It’s have all the outstanding feature from Sanyo ECJ-D55S but just bigger, larger capacity rice for big family, large enough to serve 10 people in the family.

I haven’t use this rice cooker before, but in LA Time news, Judy Yao like the user-friendly feature and deliver tender rice with a hint of sweetness. And editor at cook illustrated give this sanyo rice cooker model a very high rating in their rice cooker reviews.

Personally, I love the smaller one model and I think it’s Sanyo rice cooker ECJ-D100S model shouldn’t be too bad either.

Sanyo Rice Cooker ECJ-D100S Review

Sanyo ECJ-D100S Rice Cooker - 10-Cup Rice Cooker

Sanyo ECJ-D100S Rice Cooker - 10-Cup Rice Cooker

Well, base on more reading from rice cooker reviews on this model and research, this Sanyo rice cooker has a 24-hour programmable timer, steamer tray and slow cooking feature setting for soups. (Wow, better then my small Sanyo ECJ-D55S) that’s why it’s more costly for getting this bigger rice cooker too. Anyway, one thing to note here from the review is … it’s mention it’s cook perfect white, and sushi rice except you need to take more care in cooking brown rice. Hmm, I guess nothing is really that perfect.

Anyway, if I need bigger rice cooker, I wouldn’t hesitate to get this one – Sanyo Rice Cooker ECJ-D100S from Amazon.

Besides this model, I would recommend the best big rice cooker to be Zojirushi NS ZCC18. Unless you like to stick to Sanyo rice cookers, there are many 10-cup models to choose from. You can go to my Best Rice Cooker main page or my post on Best Rice Cookers – Sorted By Cup Size for more.

Sanyo ECJ-N55 Rice Cooker Review

Before I tell you about how Sanyo ECJ-N55 rice cooker performed in my entire rice cooker reviews and testing, I cook rice almost everyday, and what I’m looking for is a rice cooker that is easy to operate and extremely easy to clean. Well, Sanyo rice cooker perform extremely well in this two areas.

Cook Illustrated Rice Cooker Review

When I first pick up Sanyo Rice Cooker ECJ-N55, its have mention in couple places and received tremendous good review from cook illustrated. So I decided to give it a try here. Cook illustrated pick this as the best basic rice cookers ( Excellent performance at an affordable price ). In Cook’s Illustrated review and test, the Sanyo rice cooker ties with two Zojirushi rice cookers models for first place, but unlike Zojirushi, the Sanyo has a steamer basket and an easy-to-understand instruction manual.

So I got to personally test it out. As I expected, Sanyo rice cooker don’t have the advance feature such as setting and program the cooking time so that the rice will be ready as you come home (hmm, don’t you just love technology).

But if you want to cook white rice or brown rice perfectly with a press of button, this rice cooker will get the job done. The Sanyo rice cooker ECJ-N55 can cook up to 5 1/2 cups of raw rice that good enough to serve five people in the family.

I’m not surprise its cook the rice perfectly but I’m more impress with how easy to clean this rice cooker up. Plus it’s extremely portable to store and move around. After this rice cooker review, I have bought couple of Sanyo ECJ-N55 as a gift for my good friends, they just love it.

Currently at this writing, amazon have good discount on this Sanyo ECJ-N55 (Amazon), check it out then.

This is only one of the many Sanyo rice cookers that I have to recommend. If you are looking for a fuzzy logic rice cooker, I would point you to the Best Fuzzy Logic Rice Cooker.

Sanyo Rice Cookers – Summary

I have write quite a lot of Sanyo rice cooker reviews in the past. And here I like to compile all the Sanyo rice cooker into this post.

Other Best Rice Cooker reviews in my site include:

Sanyo ECJ-HC55S 5-1/2-Cup Micro-Computerized Rice Cooker and Slow Cooker

This is a great rice cooker with slow cooking function! The Sanyo ECJ-HC55S is a rice cooker and slow cooker in one advanced, computerized machine. And it is so easy to use too!

Sanyo ECJ-HC55S 5.5-Cup Micro-Computerized Rice Cooker and Slow Cooker, White

The Sanyo ECJ-HC55S is a 5.5-cup rice cooker that comes with two inner pots, one that is non stick for rice cooking, and one for slow cooking. Everything can be programmed or cooked manually as you like, and the timer works great!

What I like about the timer of this rice cooker is that you can preset the rice cooking time to have the rice cooked at a certain time of the day, for example if you come back from work at 7PM, just enter that time and the rice will be ready at precisely that time. But even if you don’t get back in time, the rice will be kept warm and waiting for you.

The rice comes out perfect each time too, not too wet or too dry, and not clumpy. There’s a steamer you can use to steam your favorite dish along with the rice cooking, and this is perfect for Asian dishes like steamed fish, veggies, tofu and eggs. But of course, the steamer size has it’s limitations.

Great Slow Cook Options

If anyone likes to slow-cook steel cut oats, this works great! The oatmeal comes out really beautifully, never with any disappointments.

This rice cooker can take up quite a bit of the counter space though. But it works so well and it even has a retractable cord. If you think 5.5 cups is small for you, the Sanyo ECJ-HC100S is a similar model at 10-cup size.

Definitely get the Sanyo ECJ-HC55S 5-1/2-Cup Micro-Computerized Rice Cooker if you think a medium size rice cooker with slow cooking function is for you. The price is affordable and Amazon offers free shipping with the best price!

Sanyo ECJ-PX50S – Pressure Rice Cooker, Steamer and Slow Cooker

Sanyo ECJ-PX50S – Pressure Rice Cooker, Steamer and Slow Cooker

I would describe Sanyo ECJ-PX50S as: the ultimate premium rice cooker! And when I say premium, it does mean that this model is priced higher than most. Sanyo ECJ-PX50S is a micro-computerized rice cooker that can do pressure cooking, steaming and slow cooking as well. For a 4-in-1, definitely worth the price, don’t you think?

Sanyo ECJ-PX50S Rice Cooker Review

Sanyo ECJ-PX50S Rice Cooker Review

Its best feature is versatility, of course. Apart from cooking varieties of rice with option for different textures (there’s a texture button), Sanyo ECJ-PX50S can: cook soups and stews, boil eggs, make porridge and oatmeal, steam veggies and reheat dishes, cook noodles or ramen, and even brew tea! What’s more, a reviewer claimed that it can braise your brisket too, though I’m curious about how it’s done.

Sanyo ECJ-PX50S is very much designed for convenience and easy living. The one-touch controls and timer makes cooking so many times easier than using pots and pans on the stove. That retractable cord is absolutely a must for tiny kitchens, though this versatile rice cooker already saved you space on the countertop for not having three more separate appliances (pressure cooker, steamer and slow cooker) as well.

This rice cooker is a treasure when it comes to cleaning up. The 3.5mm titanium coated inner pot is truly non-stick. Just rinse away whatever is left in it and wipe the surface clean with a soft cloth. The vent is easy to take out and clean once you learn it from the manual. Guys, get this for your wife if she wants you to help with the cleaning up.

If you think this fine gadget must be very expensive, think again, because this cost less than the Zojirushi ones with the same functions. I’d choose Sanyo ECJ-PX50S for its affordability.

Sanyo rice cookers really give good value for the price, look at this Sanyo ECJ N55 for basic rice cooking, or Sanyo ECJ F50S for micro computerized technology. They have a lot of offer for a reasonable price. Go to my post on Best Rice Cookers – Sorted By Cup Size to find the best rice cooker, or back to my Best Rice Cooker main page here.

Sanyo ECJ-F50S – Micro-Computerized 5-cup Rice Cooker and Steamer

This is the 5-cup version of the Sanyo ECJ series. Sanyo ECJ-F50S rice cooker is only slightly smaller than my favorite best rice cooker the ECJ-D55S, which has 5.5 cup capacity.

I would recommend you this model if you prefer a thicker titanium-coated non stick inner pot. Sanyo ECJ-F50S has a 3.5 mm coating while ECJ-D55S rice cooker has a slightly thinner coating at 2.5 mm.

Sanyo ECJ-F50S Rice Cooker Review

Sanyo ECJ-F50S Rice Cooker Review

Basically that’s the only difference between the two models: capacity and thickness of titanium coating. Oh, and probably the price. While I’m writing this review, ECJ-D55S rice cooker is at a lower price than this model.

Sanyo ECJ-F50S is just as good at cooking all sorts of rice, porridge and oatmeal. The fuzzy logic technology will give you a faultless rice dish anytime, with all the functions and controls a more expensive Zojirushi cooker will give you. It’s also a good steamer for your veggie dishes.

I find the timer a great feature, as the rice is always ready at the right time. Although like all the rice cookers from Sanyo ECJ series, the timer shows 00:00 at noon, which can be kinda confusing if you didn’t know it at first.

All users absolutely loved Sanyo ECJ-F50S for being so easy to clean. Just pop out the inner lid and vent to wipe clean. Only steam comes out of the vent so no worries about liquid starch spills all over the rice cooker and countertop. One reviewer helpfully pointed out that adding a little butter can prevent oatmeal from boiling over too.

This can be a good gift for your mother or wife because they’ll enjoy such simple yet advanced rice cooking and soon you’ll be eating perfect rice dishes!

Sanyo 3.5-Cup Micro-Computerized Rice Cooker with Bread-Baking Function

I highly recommend this rice cooker for those of you who’re staying away from home sweet home, who’d enjoy a good wholesome meal but wouldn’t like to splash a lot of money over cooking appliances; the Sanyo 3.5 cup Rice Cooker with Bread Baking Function is just the thing for you.

Sanyo 3.5 cup Rice Cooker with Bread Baking Function is just what the name tells you. It cooks superb rice with fuzzy logic technology and bakes bread from dough. You can think of it as a combination of rice cooker and oven, with a small footprint of just 11 by 9 by 8 inches.

Sanyo 3.5-Cup Micro-Computerized Rice Cooker with Bread-Baking Function

Sanyo 3.5-Cup Micro-Computerized Rice Cooker with Bread-Baking Function

I like the idea of getting nice warm bread without getting the whole kitchen heated up as well. If you make the dough from scratch, try making it with cinnamon, currants, chocolate or coffee. Otherwise, just buy frozen bread dough or pizza dough to bake in this incredible rice cooker.

The titanium coated 5mm extra thick non stick inner pot is a great feature that adds quality and taste to the rice this rice cooker makes. Sanyo 3.5 cup Rice Cooker with Bread Baking Function is much more durable with this feature, and easy to clean too. Scrubbing? Never again!

The timer is another awesome thing. You don’t have to worry that the Sanyo 3.5 cup Rice Cooker with Bread Baking Function cooks rice over a longer time than using the stove. Just prepare your dinner before you go out and set the timer to have the rice ready by the time you come home. There is even a pre-soak option for better tasting rice. The keep warm function and reheat function will serve you well if you come home late.

This little rice cooker cooks only 3.5 cups so it might be suitable for one to three persons depending on your appetite. Sanyo 3-1/2-Cup Rice Cooker With Bread Baking Function does not come with steamer tray, so if you prefer steamed dishes over warm bread, get the Sanyo ECJ-E35S instead.

If you are the type who like to combine functions in one electronic device, you may like a rice cooker with slow cooking functions too, like the Sanyo ECJ-HC55S, or the Sanyo ECJ PX50S, which is a Pressure Rice Cooker, Steamer and Slow Cooker. Both are 5.5 cup rice cookers though; you can find other small rice cookers here or go to Best Rice Cooker main page for other reviews.

Sanyo ECJ-HC100S Rice Cooker Review

The Sanyo ECJ-HC100S is the 10-cup capacity version of the Sanyo ECJ-HC55S. If you’ve read my review of that model, this model is exactly the same as that one except for the size.

For a rice cooker, this model works really well with slow cooking. Like its smaller version, the Sanyo ECJ-HC100S comes with two separate inner pots and inner lids for rice cooking and slow cooking. No more watching over your traditional crock pot because all of it can be programmed and timed as you like.

Sanyo ECJ-HC100S Rice Cooker Review

Sanyo ECJ-HC100S Rice Cooker Review

The Sanyo ECJ-HC100S has received nothing but praises from the users. Of course, who wouldn’t praise a rice cooker where all kinds of rice come out perfect every time, stews can be done with high or low temperature, and it can steam vegetables, boil eggs and make tofu with precision too!

I think the Sanyo ECJ-HC100S is also perfect for those who hate cleaning up, because it is extremely easy to clean. Basically nothing ever sticks to the pot, but if it does, I find one tip from a reviewer quite useful: wait till the starch dries out, then wipe out the pot with your hand. Any remaining rice will fall away and you can wash the pot easily.

Great 10 Cup Rice Cooker With Slow Cooking Function

This micro-computerized rice cooker and slow cooker are definitely leading in the market of large capacity rice cookers. The price is affordable too. Buy the Sanyo ECJ-HC100S if you need a big-sized rice cooker with slow cooking function; you won’t regret it.
